Equipment

  • Frying Pan/Skillet with a lid
  • Mixing Bowl

Ingredients

  • 2 cloves garlic
  • 2 stems green onion (don't substitute with regular onions)
  • 1/2 tspn minced ginger
  • 1/2 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1/2 tbsp sesame oil
  • 1 pound ground pork
  • 35 to 40 won ton wrappers or asian dumpling wrappers
  • 1 small bowl of water (to moisten wrappers)

Home made Pot Sticker Dipping Sauce

  • 3 tbsp soy sauce or low sodium soy
  • 1 tbsp rice vinegar
  • 1 tbsp balsamic vinegar (use apple cider vinegar as alternate)
  • 1 teaspoon chili oil or chili sauce

Instructions

Making the Pot Sticker Filling

  • In a mixing bowl, add 1 pound of ground pork, chopped green onion, ginger, garlic, soy sauce and sesame oil.
  • Mix the ingredients together until well combined

Filling the Won Ton Wrappers/Asian Dumplings

  • Take a small amount of filling and place in middle of wrapper.
  • Take a small amount of water on your finger tip and moisten one half of the wrapper.
  • Fold the wrapper over the meat and press with your fingers to pinch close. Continue doing this for each pot sticker.
  • Make sure to place your completed pot stickers on a parchment lined baking sheet and cover with a moistened cloth towel or paper towel.

Cooking the Pot Stickers

  • Once you have finished making all of your pot stickers it's now time to cook them!
  • In a non-stick skillet (this is very important) put about 2 tbsps of oil in your skillet. Make sure the skillet gets to a warm temperature.
  • Add your pot stickers to the pan and fry them on the bottom. I was able to fit about 8 at a time in my skillet. MAKE SURE NOT TO BURN THESE POT STICKERS. Check every so often to make sure you have a nice light brown color on the bottom.
  • When pot stickers have good color on bottom, take your cover/lid and use as a shield. Pour a dash of water into your pan of pot stickers and immediately cover for about 1 to 2 minutes until the pork mixture inside is cooked.
  • Repeat the exact same above procedures for the remaining pot stickers.

Making the Home Made Pot Sticker Dipping Sauce

  • Mix 3 tablespoons of low sodium soy sauce, 1 tablespoon of rice vinegar, 1 tablespoon of balsamic (or apple cider) vinegar, 1 teaspoon of chili oil or chili sauce to taste. This is optional so you can leave this off if you wish.
  • You can also just use soy sauce, or a nice bottled sweet and sour sauce, etc. Whatever your taste is, it won't be a bad choice. 🙂
  • Enjoy these fantastic treats!
