Equipment

  • Skillet
  • Knife
  • Spatula
  • Chopping Board/Pad
  • Container or bowl to temporarily hold ingredients

Ingredients

  • 1 can northern, white or navy beans (with juice)
  • 2 teaspoons minced garlic
  • 1 small to medium onion, chopped
  • 1/4 cup shredded carrots
  • 1 stalk finely chopped celery
  • 1/2 pound smoked sausage or kielbasa
  • 2 tbsp butter (could be salted or not)

Instructions

  • In a skillet on medium heat, melt your butter and sautee your onions, carrots and celery until softened and onions are translucent.
  • When onion, carrots and celery are almost done, add your minced garlic and cook for another 1 minute.
  • Empty the ingredients into a bowl or container and set aside.
  • Chop your smoked sausage or kielbasa into small pieces and then add to the same skillet and sautee until meat is cooked (about 5 minutes). If necessary, add another 1 tbsp of butter if too dry. Add the other ingredients back into the skillet and combine with the meat.
  • Open your can of navy, white or northern beans and empty all contents of the can into the skillet with the other ingredients. Cook for another 5 minutes and you are ready to serve! You can serve right from the skillet or put into a fancier vessel to impress the guests! Enjoy!
